Patna, the capital of Bihar is one of the largest cities in the eastern India. The city has dense population and has load of heavy traffic. Because of increased Infrastructural and industrial development activities in the state, number of traffic has increased a lot in the city. Traffic congestion is in such a way that manual controlling of the traffic is becoming difficult. People violate traffic rules very often. Also Patna is perhaps the only capital cities in India which doesn’t have automatic and proper traffic management system.

Earlier, Patna city police had implemented automatic traffic management system but perhaps got failed later due to technical and other reasons. Traffic management system is largely based on microcontroller technology in India where incandescent halogen light is used for red, green and yellow signals.  In the fast changing electronics world, power saving /power management, speed, space and Security are the main concerns for the electronics companies for making most efficient and quality product. In the case of traffic system, it has been felt that illegal vehicle and illegal people crossing should be checked at crossroads in real time. This would save time for Police for manual checking and also illegal people like terrorist and banned person can be caught red handed. Also seeing interrupted power supply with less voltage requirement bounds us to think about the use of alternative energy sources particularly in the state like Bihar where Power situation is grim and pathetic.

 

Taking these into accounts, TEKBRAINS PVT LTD , Bihar’s first  electronics system design and manufacturing company has approched Bihar Govt’s Police Dept. and submitted its proposal for Intelligent Patna Traffic control Management and crime control System.  The company is going to implement  solar energy based  power Backup, FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) Chip based control system, and Aricont vision camera based automatic police patrolling system. The total estimated cost for this system for per 50 intersections is around Rs 6 crore. The company has recommended state police department to implement trafficcontroller in all over state capital region from Fatuha to Bihta and Hajipur to masaudhi. Total intersection will be no less than 1000. So, total cost of this project would be 120 crore.

 

The project proposal has already been submitted to SP (Traffic), SSP, DSP (Law & order), and IG(BMP), Patna. The said proposal has been included into Patna Modernization plan and is being sent to state home ministry and Central govt. for final approval and fund allocation. 

 

Mr. Bibhuti Bikramaditya, CEO of the company said that the implementation of this project is like serving our motherland by heart. The excellent technical team from industry and academia are going to sit and discuss about this mega project.  He added that this proposed system is intelligent and  is  first of this kind in India which will be based on Korean and Japanese traffic management system.
